The children work in an environment where they feel cared for and important. Today we continue to draw strength and inspiration from Jesus Christ our teacher and the source of our faith. This faith underpins all our endeavours and colours all our relationships. The school is a place where love exists.
The staff at the school are happy and hard working. There are good lines of communication
and positive relationships that are enabling factors in the complexities of running
an effective school. Staff give over and above the required hours in the interests
of the children. We are careful to build and maintain good and positive links with
our parents who are the children’s first and most important educators. We make ourselves
available to them to share concerns and successes and are in total partnership with
them for the good of the children. There is a preferred uniform for school, which
is green and red. Sweatshirts with the school badge can be obtained from the school.
The
Friends of St George’s provide the school with money to assist with additional provision
for the children, which the school may not be able fund. The Friend’s fund raising
activities afford opportunities for parents and staff to meet informally and, on
occasion, to work together. The success of the Friends is evidence of the parental
support that the school receives. We have parental help in school time too. Parents
help the teaching staff in a variety of ways. They share their time and talent with
the children under the direction of staff.
The Governing Body work hard to encourage the growth and effectiveness of the school and are greatly involved in strategic development planning. They are fully supportive of staff and available to parents.
Discipline is vital in the smooth running of the school. We have a shared ideal of how discipline can be best achieved and pursue this through positive methods, which are designed to build and strengthen children’s self esteem. A residential visit is planned each year for children in Year 6. This usually involves outdoor activities and team building. The children love these visits and benefit in so many ways from the experience. Staff give their weekends to enable the visits to take place. The children’s spiritual, physical and intellectual growth is nurtured in a planned way.
Our School Development Planning ensures that all areas are kept under review and priorities are set for spending.
